hiked to camp muir yesterday for some pre-summit practice with my friend sheena. the whiteout conditions were tough to navigate at times but the guide services did a wonderful job placing wands on the route. when we arrived at muir there was a break in the clouds for a few minutes, i was able to snag this photo.
i love rainier. she is both a beauty and a beast.
*climbing note: the tent pictured is a prototype from eddie bauer’s first ascent line of equipment.
i’m not one for writing much on my blog but here goes nothing. 2011 has already been an incredible year. this past winter my grandfather continued to fight pneumonia with his resilient strength and witty attitude. he passed in the early hours of valentine’s day. he wanted the last laugh. during the same time my sister moved home from japan after living away for 3 years. everyday has been an adventure having her close by not to mention my beautiful 8 month old niece.
this year has already been filled with wonderful weddings. i don’t say it enough – i am truly blessed to have such an amazing career. witnessing the love of individuals as they start a new life together never gets old. 2010 still has a few weddings that will make an appearance on the blog so keep your eyes pealed. also i wanted to give a shout out to my friends jeramie and sergio. i was able to accompany jeramie at the end of april for a beautiful wedding in vegas, making some new friends at the same time. this past week i returned from an austin, tx wedding with sergio. it was quite nice to get away from the seattle rain and spend time in the green and warm lands of atx.
a few weeks ago i had the privilege of photographing the national multiple sclerosis society’s dinner of champions. during the entire night i was surrounded by an incredible group of strong humans, people who showed an immense love for each other and the trials they faced. this was the 10th anniversary of the dinner and it was a huge success. the society received generous donations from the guests in attendance.
